Ilona

French, Spanish, English

I’ve always been very intrigued by other cultures and it surely started when I was growing up in a village at the chech-polish border. I started to study French at 11’s. Then, I spent half of my life in France. I finally left her hectic Parisian life to travel and volunteer around Latin America, fell in love with Mexico and the small town of Bacalar became my new home. I used to have many friends from different cultures and countries, and I love to use all the languages I know to communicate with people and connect them one to another. For my family and friends, I am THE traveller. But I say that the best journey is the one into oneself.

What helps me teach effectively:
If learning a new language is a wonderful journey, teaching it also is! I like to see myself as a guide; enthusiastic, patient, clear and supportive. I try to keep the atmosphere relaxed and funny. It’s a real pleasure to take the hand of a student in the adventure and walk together for a while.
